I attended an Orchestra concert recently, I was in awe as they played because they were young and yet so good. There are three different groups the Philharmonic, Chamber and Symphony.
An Orchestra simply means a group of instrumental musicians. A group of musicians involving strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and sometimes choir is used to describe a classical music Orchestra.
The string section is the basis of the orchestra. The range of expression available and the great stamina of strings makes them a powerful tool. Examples of string instruments includes the violin which typically has four strings, it is the smallest and the highest pitched wooden string instrument.
The viola is a bowed string instrument that sounds lower and deeper; it is the middle voice of the violin family and It is larger than the violin. The second largest is the cello and the strings are set from low to high.
The wind section is traditionally known as the woodwind section. The woodwind section usually includes flutes, oboes, clarinets and bassoons.
The brass line up includes Horns, Trumpets, Trombones, Tubas.
The percussion includes two main groups which are tuned and un tuned percussion group (timpani, tubular bells, castanets and congas).
Prior to the performance, the Master (Orchestra teacher) came in to check all the instruments, the same way our master, our director, our creator, the King of Kings and our maker also checks on us to make sure we are in tune. When he notices a wrong sound he fine tunes us to get us ready for our assignment.
Each instrumentalist has their stands and their music notes in front of them. They position themselves in a ready to perform stance and play their instruments.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Gn2I3kVNpy4?feature=player_embeddedEach player does their part; the violas only see their own note, the violins note is different from the violas note which is different from each woodwind, each brass line and each instrumentalist note yet they play in unison and produce quality music that take us to places we’ve never been or places we long to be.
The same way God wants us to make music in harmony unto Him. We are different yet we are of one body. We have different voices, dance steps, instruments and styles that can be used to honor God. The whole essence of our being is to glorify God. We are created to make music and dance unto our creator. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. Let God’s praise arise from within you. You are alive, you can eat, you can walk, you have a roof over your head, you see his work all around you. The bible says in Psalm 22:3 that God inhabits the praises of His people. Why do we strife when we can be united like the orchestra and make music to our master? When we are united in worship miracles happen. When will you join the Lord’s orchestra?
Love, Ibk
